Another miracle here.
Jim Bob has had diarrhea for a long time. I mean months. Now, stop, before you tell me what a bad mom I am, I have been very frustrated by this. Jim Bob would have been treated months ago, when I first saw his issues, but I could not get near him.
Jim Bob is one of the Siamese Seven who were trapped as adults, and came here when the trappers had no safe place to release them, as their habitat had been destroyed. All but he and Doogie tamed down enough that I could at least handle them if necessary. Jim Bob and Doogie did not respond. In fact, not only did they not respond but they became more and more stressed and aggressive from being in the cage. So I decided that I was causing more harm than good. Some cats, not many, but some, just do not care to be pets. They were healthy when I released them...that was two years ago, I believe.
When I noticed the diarrhea I started waiting for the opportunity to get hold of Jamie. (If you stay around here long enough you will find that many of the cats have nicknames...confusing I know, but strangely enough the cats know and recognize all their names. They are very patient with the dumb human that can't use one name) (Jim Bob is Billie Bob's, aka da beeter or beeter (don't ask cause I have no idea why) and goes by Jim Bob, Jamison, Jamie, or damn it stop that) brother. Both of them are bob tailed Siamese mix.) Confused? Yeah well, welcome to my world. lol
But I digress...not an uncommon thing...look a rabbit...lol
Anyway...
So over a week ago, could be a couple of weeks... I don't remember how many days and am to lazy to walk into the other room and check... I had the opportunity and was able to reach down and scruff Jim Bob. I had been praying for a miracle like this as even though they brothers (Doogie and Jim Bob) had improved, they watch me closely. You know, because I beat them at regular intervals. JUST KIDDING...they are feral cats and some never lose their suspicion of people.
Geez, am I long winded or what...don't answer, that was a rhetorical question.
So, I started him on the last of my Metronidazole with no improvement...added Clavamox when I noticed a slight URI, no improvement. Bland diet, no improvement. Fast forward to Monday, when I received a Happy New Year package from our wish list on Amazon with the magic probiotics I use. I started him on the S Boulardii that night. This morning I checked the litter box, nothing...buuut...after breakfast I saw him go into the litter box so I snuck over to watch. (He already thinks I am the spawn of satan and now can add pervert to his list of negatives.) And oh yay!! We not only have formed stools but NORMAL, lovely, beyoutiful poop! Ah, the things that make me happy!
He will remain caged while I continue to treat with probiotics for a week and then another week or so to make sure things stay okay in that area...because it will probably take another year to be able to catch him again.
Now to catch Doogie who has a snotty nose...have to pray about that.
